The morning fog,

I drove through it

but what about that morning fog

my Momma on paper route

by herself

with no one here with her

but you

the first night

a hog hit her

but she kept enduring,

A Year Ago Today (Moving Past Grief)

A year ago today,
my life came crumbling down,
my dreams, my pulse,
just stopped.
I had lost my heart.
found it hard to joy
hard to live, hard to breathe,
constantly thinking,
'what's the point?'
I had lost my beloved grandmother
the one who sacrificed everything for me,
the one who believed in me,
the one who inspired me
my hope was gone.
How could God do this?
the months rolled on
the grief rolled strong,
even yet,
I still found the hope to cling onto God
the months inched by
still grieving that sigh
my growth at a standstill
it feels,
but the whole time,
i was growing leaps and bounds
He continued to breathe life
was always by my side
and a year later I stand here taller
stronger, faithful, inspired and encouraged
with a will and zest for life
because that's what she would have wanted
that is what she sacrificed for
and that's what I'm made for.

Worth It (Poem)

Even though I am afraid
I will keep running
I will keep trusting you
even amidst the pain
you are worthy of the wait
you are worthy of the breakthrough
you are worthy to be humiliated for
you are worthy to feel ashamed

No matter the trails and tribulations
no matter the cost
I will set my eyes on you to love you abundantly

I know I might be afraid, and try to figure life out on my own,

Never Alone [Poem]

I'm never alone,

even when it's cold.

You promised to never leave me.

Always there,

walking beside me,

always there, leading behind me,

You are the comforter of my soul.

So with my whole life,

I will trust you

I will put my hand in yours,

and let you lead me out of this storm

Teach me to praise you always
no matter how deep my tears are,
even if I am drowning in them,
teach me how to lift up my hands
& give you all the praise.

Teach me how to fully love you,
teach me how to press into you,
with every fiber of my being.
